What is Cookie? – Definition
A cookie is a small piece of data stored in the computer’s memory which the server sends to your device when you visit a given website.
HTTP Cookie Contains:
- site name,
- expiration date,
- unique ID.
There are two types of HTTP cookies: session cooking and persistent cookies. Session cookies are temporary, they are stored on the device until you log out or close your browser. Persistent cookies, on the other hand, have a predetermined duration period, specified in the cookie’s file.
What are Cookies Used For?
Cookies are used to adjust the web content to users’ preferences and, consequently, to optimize the website.
