What is Google Tag Assistant? – Definition
Google Tag Assistant is an extension that helps you manage the Google tags on your website. The Google tags include: Google Ads, DoubleClick, Google Tag Manager. Additionally, this extension allows you to track the user’s activity. What’s more, Tag Assistant verifies whether Google Analytics and other Google products are implemented correctly and don’t have any errors. It is a free Google Chrome extension available to all users.
What Is Tag Assistant For?
Google Tag Assistant changes status depending on whether tags are introduced correctly or incorrectly. Green means that particular tags are valid and no errors were found. Blue indicates that minor issues have been detected and suggest changes to implement in order to improve tagging health. Yellow informs about some non-critical errors that have been found. Red, however, indicates that a given tag is invalid and as a result, reports may show wrong data or may be displayed incorrectly.
How to Install Google Tag Assistant?
Go to Chrome Web Store and then enter Tag Assistant by Google. Select it and click “Add to Chrome”. It will be installed automatically and then the tool will appear in the top right corner of the web browser window ready to capture tags, events and other interactions. When you want to finish recording, click the “Stop Recording” button.
